Availability is the most important metric
In rental and charter operations, profitability hinges on a simple measure: how many days is the boat actually available for renters? Every day in the workshop is lost revenue. The SeaStorm 17 is designed to stay on the water, with a robust double-walled HDPE hull and predictable engine maintenance.
Less maintenance, less downtime
The hull makes the difference in day-to-day operations:
- No gelcoat, no osmosis prevention, no polishing. Rinsing is enough.
- Impact resistant: bumps from changing renters leave dents rather than cracks. Why this is the case is explained in “Double-walled hull explained”.
- Engine predictable: Mercury FourStroke, service every 100 hours or annually. Details in the article “Outboard maintenance: intervals and costs”.
Calculate rather than promise
We deliberately avoid invented ROI figures. Profitability depends on your utilization rate, your rental prices, and your operating costs. What the SeaStorm 17 contributes is the cost side: low maintenance effort, predictable service intervals, robust construction. For an overview of total costs, see the buying guide.
Safety for inexperienced crews
Renters are rarely professionals. CE compliance under RCD 2013/53/EU with assigned design category and the buoyancy reserve of the double-walled hull provide confidence within the applicable category and permitted crew size. Boating license requirements vary by country and jurisdiction, check with your competent national authority (in the German Rhine region, ELWIS provides these guidelines).
